losing is a lesson of winning

The plan for Friday was to get from Wroclaw to the night relays on Spring Cup (830km), but on the German highway we had a problem with a car and we spend some time sitting on the roadside.
Of course we were late for night relay.
The classic day was good for me. I had a nice, individual race to the 22nd control, than caught me Daniel Hubmann. He was first 59'51", I was second 61'56", third Baptiste Rollier 62'09".
The relay was even better. Daniel, Olexandr, Mikhail did a great job and I could start first on 4th leg. From the start I was concentrated on my own race - never look back. On the spectator control, in the half of the course, I've heard that Kristiansand is 1' after me. It is not much time when Daniel Hubmann is on the course. He caught me on 24th. I didn't know if I should start my finish 1km before finish line. Now I know. Orion took 2nd place. It was really good race.

Sunny week

I spent a week in Karlskrona. I had good training session with Orion runners there. I also took part in PAN Kristianstad competition (night, relay, long) in Ahus. Where I was beaten, three times by Claus Bloch – grrrr…

In Karlskrona I stayed at my good friend Alek, so it was impossible to be bored. He lives in a very famous area , even Mohammad Ali lives in the same block.

Orion has a new runner from Poland: Hanna Wisniewska (Slask Wroclaw). She went from PAN Kristianstad. Now Orion Ladies Team will be stronger.

What I could do better in February?

… go to Portugal for longer period. 10 days, 7 races, 7 trainings in space without snow. My shape wasn’t incredible, but I had good connection between running and thinking. In two races (POM day3 and NAOM sprint) I lost this control. In the rest of fife races I did a good job, especially in two WRE races (POM day2 and NAOM classic), and in my best race NAOM middle, where I was fast and had totally clear race! What a feeling. I will keep it in my mind.

The whole January I’ve spent in Wroclaw. It’s not typical situation for me as a polish runner and member of Polish Team, Polish Military team. Normally, in winter we have sport camp, after sport camp and then some sport camp (of course 99% of work we do there is running, the rest is orienteering 1%). I didn’t waste my time in Wroclaw. I was training hardly (January 48h). I was lucky because of snow. It was good condition for skiing and what was more important for me, I could do a lot of tough running in deep snow. It was great simulation of running in mountains in completely flat area. In first part of February I went to polish mountains on short sport camp. There I got an idea: snow labyrinth. We realized it, with my friend Wojtek, after one hour of digging. You can wach it in full HD:

Now I’m sitting on London airport. Soon (in 7h) I have a plane to Portugal. With my O-friends from club Grupo Desportivo Quatro Caminhos, I will forget about snow, -10 degrees and start to train my real sport ORIENTEERING, because this winter I was only a runner.

The worst prizes of 2009

It was in June: Polish Championships in long distance.
First place Robert Banach 89'01" , second me 90'27"
, third Richert Marcin 95'20"
Usually I don't care about a prize, but this time it looked as if someone was clearing old magazine. You can't just go to the shop and bay mouse with PS2 connection, becouse they stopped selling it couple years ago.
Polish Champs, the most important competition in the country...
... it would be better not to give anything. Shame.
